Palm Beach Atlantic University's Center for Integrative Science Learning offers a Summer Science Camp and Summer Science Institute. The camps use a multi-disciplinary
approach for Big Ideas and Florida Department of Education Standards in science with fun, unconventional
approaches.
Health Science
$325.00/student/week
Students will investigate health sciences by exploring different aspects of human and animal anatomy and function as well as be introduced to how a health care professional may help. They will do this through lab experiments that involve topics like vision, hearing, body mechanics, nutrition, and cardiology.
Format:
Campers going into grade 1 through 5 will be grouped by age level (Group 1: 1st graders;
Group 2: 2nd -3rd graders; Group 3: 4th-5th graders). Exploration activities and
experiments will be centered around the science topic of the day and are held outdoors,
in the classroom, and in the laboratory led by PBA faculty. Each group will have
two PBA college student camp counselors. Campers will have a break for physical activity
and free time after lunch.
7:30-8:30 a.m. • Extended Morning Care
8:30-9:00 a.m. • Check-in

Health Sciences
$400.00/student
Students will explore how the body works and how it can be applied in health care fields. In the science laboratory, students will explore the anatomy and physiology of different organ systems, covering topics such as respiration, cardiology, and body mechanics. In conjunction with the Nursing and Human & Health Performance Departments, students will have a hands-on approach to understand applied health fields like nursing and physical therapy.
Format:
Experiment and team-based learning is grouped by grade level (Group 1: 6th – 8th graders, Group 2: 9th-12th graders). Each group will have a PBA college student as a Counselor. Laboratory
experiments are led by PBA professors (physics, chemistry, biology, nursing, and health
& human performance) twice daily.
8:30-9:00a.m. • check-in
9:00-9:50a.m. • Lecture/instructional time led by PBA faculty
10:00-12:00 p.m. • session 1 – lab experiment
