Here at Palm Beach Atlantic University, our PGY1 pharmacy residency program provides you with a diverse set of experiences in both patient care and academia. When you successfully complete the PGY1 program, you will be prepared to manage a variety of both chronic and acute disease states, to fill academic pharmacy practice faculty positions or go on to a PGY2 program in a focused area of practice. This residency provides the unique opportunity for residents to assimilate and gain experience in multiple practice settings, with an emphasis on the care of ambulatory patients, under the guidance of pharmacy practice faculty from the Gregory School of Pharmacy.
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Learning experiences are four or five week blocks, or longitudinal throughout the residency year. Residents may choose up to three elective blocks in addition to completion of required learning experiences.
“I was first drawn to PBA's PGY1 Pharmacy Residency because of the positive and friendly interactions I had during my interview. The program was a great fit for me due to the variety of clinical rotations in ambulatory care, internal medicine, missions trip, VA Medical Center rotations and an academia component.”
