The PBA Difference

Gregory Center for Medical Missions

Our Mission

The Gregory Center for Medical Missions exists to foster the effective engagement of healthcare professionals in meeting the spiritual needs of under-served communities, both locally and around the world, via their attention to the communities’ physical and emotional health needs.

Working collaboratively with strategic partners in the Christ-first medical missions arena, the Center’s initial focus is on the profession of pharmacy – supporting awareness and implementation of best practices, providing pharmacy service-associated training and sending well-prepared mission teams into the field.

The Gregory Center for Medical Missions is housed in the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy (GSOP) at PBA.

Research Project

In the fall of 2017, the Gregory Center for Medical Missions conducted a gap analysis survey in order to better understand the perceived pharmacy needs of the greater medical missions community. The survey was distributed to healthcare professionals at the Global Missions Health Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, the survey was also forwarded to the pharmacy faculty and students of Palm Beach Atlantic University as well as other pharmacy students and faculty at Cedarville University in Ohio. Analysis of the survey data demonstrated an overwhelming need for language-specific medication counseling points followed closely by medication acquisition resources. The GCMM will spend the spring of 2018 strategically planning to meet these needs while preparing our medical mission teams to serve in Belle Glade, the Dominican Republic, and Uganda this summer.
